The initial consultation will take an hour as it includes a case history, examination and treatment. Depending on the nature of the complaint, follow up treatments are generally 30-40 minutes.

Since each person is unique, the number of treatments required will vary. Determining factors are the nature of the complaint, how long it’s been there and the general state of health and well being. Chronic or longstanding complaints may require maintenance treatments at intervals of two months or longer, whereas acute complaints often only require two to three sessions.

If you have any X-rays, scans or recent test results please bring these along. It is helpful to wear loose comfortable clothing for the treatment and if you prefer please bring shorts.

Osteopathic treatment may include muscle and connective tissue stretching, massage for general treatment of the soft tissues (muscles, tendons and ligaments), articulations (rhythmic joint movements) or spinal manipulation to improve joint range of movement and cranial techniques. Gentle cranial releasing techniques are used particularly when treating elderly adults or children.
The aim of all treatment is to integrate the body to allow it to work more effectively as a unit with the ability to express its health to the fullest. To aid and speed recovery, treatment is supported by specific rehabilitation exercise, posture advice, breathing exercises and dietary advice.
